Speedway Opens for City of Homestead’s July 4th Fireworks

For the first time ever, THE Championship Track will serve as host to the City of Homestead’s annual 4th of July celebration. The “Race to the Fourth" runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. this Sunday, July 4, in the Homestead-Miami Speedway infield. The event will feature family entertainment to include: live music, children’s activities, food and drinks, games and a classic Independence Day fireworks display. In addition, tickets to see the 2010 IndyCar and NASCAR Champions crowned this fall at Homestead-Miami Speedway—on sale for the first time THIS Saturday, July 3—will be available for purchase.

“When the City of Homestead approached us to inquire about hosting its annual fireworks display at Homestead-Miami Speedway, we were ecstatic," said track president Matt Becherer. “The Speedway will host events more than 280 days this year, but we especially relish the opportunity to open our doors for the City of Homestead to host our local community for this most patriotic of American holidays. Before the Speedway lights up our own fireworks for both the IndyCar and NASCAR Championships this fall at Homestead-Miami, the City of Homestead will light up the sky July 4th for our South Florida neighbors."

Admission to the “Race to the Fourth" is FREE, and the event will be held in the Speedway’s infield to allow guests to get up close and personal with the race track and pit areas that this fall will host the biggest names in both NASCAR and IndyCar, including: Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin, Danica Patrick, Tony Stewart, and South Florida-residents Juan Pablo Montoya, Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan. These are just a few of the names who will do battle in the series-crowning Championship finales of both IndyCar (Oct. 1-2) and NASCAR (Nov. 19-21).

“Race to the Fourth" guests will be treated to music from two live bands—“Been There, Done That" and “No Restrictions"—along with patriotic songs from a choral group. There also will be an exclusive on-site opportunity for guests to purchase tickets to both the IndyCar and NASCAR Championship weekends at Homestead-Miami Speedway this fall. With food and drinks available on site, personal items and coolers will not be permitted at entry.
