Weekly NASCAR cheaters report

Part-time Nationwide Series driver Peyton Sellers was docked 50 points while his crew chief, Paul Richmond, was fined $10,000 and suspended for four races after NASCAR officials discovered unapproved fuel in his car following qualifying last Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Sellers had his qualifying time disallowed and because he did not have a guaranteed position, did not compete in the race.

The Sellers family-owned team also was docked 25 points in the owner points.

“A small amount of fuel that we used to fire up our car in the shop was accidentally brought to the track and was used to top off the car," Sellers said in a statement. “We are a new team and are trying hard to make it in the Nationwide Series with a volunteer crew. We know mistakes like this cannot be made if we are going to be successful in one of NASCAR’s top series of racing. We have learned a very important and costly lesson but we are going to continue moving forward with my lifelong goal of competing in NASCAR."
