Senna: “Chopping maneuvers must stop!”

Bruno Senna has demanded that those drivers who return to the racing line too soon after committing to a pass must be more vigilant, not least following an incident between himself and Virgin Racing’s Timo Glock in the European Grand Prix.

With the pair having been dicing whilst leaders came through to lap them, German Glock eventually dived up the inside of Senna at the Turn 17 hairpin before cutting back across the Hispania driver’s nose cone, resulting in a rear puncture for himself plus a broken front wing for the Brazilian.

“It’s happening a lot this year, where drivers who are overtaking other drivers are just chopping in front too many times," Senna told Reuters.

With the front wing sizes we have, everybody is losing front wings…the amount of front wings that are being damaged or lost, and punctures on the rear tires, is ridiculous; even if you are not competing for position, sometimes they just chop in front of you."

With his final comment having referred to the front-runners, who themselves have generally been highly critical of the tail-enders’ pace this season, Senna stresses that FIA Race Director Charlie Whiting should be informed: “I think it's maybe a good idea.
