De la Rosa fined for pit lane speeding

Pedro de la Rosa

Sauber's Pedro de la Rosa has been handed a hefty fine of €4,200 (£3,500) for speeding in the Silverstone pit lane during the British Grand Prix.

Throughout the race, the pit lane is limited to a speed of 100km/h (62mph) for safety reasons although de la Rosa, who was running in the points before retiring from the race, was clocked at 120.3km/h (75mph).

The total of the Spaniard's fine is calculated by Formula 1 governing body the FIA, which charges €200 euros for every kilometer over the limit.
