Sadler still working on 2011 plans

Elliott Sadler

Elliott Sadler said he's trying to find a Sprint Cup ride but would consider driving in the Nationwide or Camping World Truck series if those were his only viable options. Sadler announced a month ago he didn't expect to be back at Richard Petty Motorsports after this season. Although an RPM official said publicly that the team had interest in keeping Sadler, the Virginian said he's not had much dialogue with the organization. Sadler said that some plans have fallen through in the last month and that he's focused talks with one Cup team that he wouldn't name. Sadler said that plans are being put together to have him run a few more truck races for Kevin Harvick Inc. next season. If his Cup plans falter, Sadler said he would look to other series. "I'd rather go somewhere and win then go somewhere and just ride around,'' Sadler said. "If I have to go back to Nationwide or go back to the Truck (series) and get my chance and opportunity to win races, you'll see Elliott Sadler do that instead of go somewhere where there's a start-and-park (car) or ride around. That's not me. I'm way too competitive for that. I don't have a big enough ego to where I have to be labeled a Cup driver. I want to be a driver that's competitive.'' Roanoke Times
