Off-road race accident victim dies

One of the injured spectators at the off-road race accident near Lucerne Valley Saturday night was flown to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs where he died, the Riverside Coroner's office has reported.

The spectator, identified as 34-year Michael Dickinson, was from Spring Valley.

The accident, that claimed the lives of seven other spectators, occurred about 8:45 p.m. Saturday when a truck careened off the track into a crowd of onlookers.

Dickinson was pronounced dead at 10:41 p.m.
