It’s Chip Ganassi Day in Pittsburgh

This is "Chip Ganassi Day" in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh City Council approved the proclamation this morning, honoring Mr. Ganassi's racing team for being the first to win the Daytona 500, Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400 in a single year, auto racing's so-called "triple crown." Councilman Bill Peduto also honored Mr. Ganassi, a Westmoreland County native and Duquesne University graduate who has an office Downtown, for his commitment to local charity. Mr. Ganassi, who appeared in council chamber to accept the honor, was low key. "I'm a Pittsburgher," he said. "We don't toot our horns too much." Mr. Ganassi said he's had a special career. "Mario Andretti said to me one time . . . 'None of it matters till they know about it at home.'" Pittsburgh Post Gazette
