New FOTA chief to be named post-season
The chairmanship of FOTA is decided on an annual basis, but recent reports suggested that current head Martin Whitmarsh would be standing down with immediate effect.
Whitmarsh has denied this though and confirmed that a new chairman would not be decided on until after the end of the season.
"It is due to come to an end later this year – that is as far as I know," explained the Briton.
"At the end of the year it will be good to take stock of how much time everyone spends on it and where we focus our efforts."
It is believed that Red Bull's Christian Horner, Ross Brawn of Mercedes and Williams' Adam Parr are the favorites for the position, with FOTA said to be looking for the head of an independent team to take over from Whitmarsh.
However, the incumbent insists that nobody has been earmarked for the job.
"Not yet, no. It will be voted probably November/December time," he said. PlanetF1
