Toyota, Nissan to supply engines

Toyota and Nissan will return to Le Mans-style racing next season as engine suppliers. The Rebellion team’s LMP1 Lola prototypes, currently fitted with Judd V10s, will be powered by 3.4-liter, 540 hp V8 engines that have been proven in Toyota’s Lexus-badged cars in the All-Japan Super GT series. The manufacturer insists that this is purely a commercial deal and there is no factory involvement. However, Toyota has been evaluating a full factory return to sports-car racing for some time.

Meanwhile, NISMO–Nissan's performance arm–has signed a contract appointing Zytek Motorsport in the U.K. as the sales and service agent for the 4.5-liter V8 engine that it has developed for next year’s LMP2 category.
