Webber admits he is too slow

F1 points leader Mark Webber is the lowest-placed runner on the grid ahead of Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix, in which the Australian will line up fifth behind rivals Fernando Alonso, team-mate Sebastian Vettel and the two McLarens. 

Red Bull have long since been tipped to dominate in Singapore, not least following Webber’s crushing defeat of the opposition on the Monaco street circuit back in May, although the Queanbeyan man admits that more pace is needed from himself.

“A little bit," he told BBC Sport when asked if fifth was a result to be disappointed about. “I knew the front row would be very competitive today but I couldn’t have done a lap to be on the front row

“It could be worse, it could be better – we’ll have to hang in there but we’ll hope for a strong race tomorrow. I’ve been having trouble getting the rhythm here and I know there’s a few places where I’m losing time.

“I wasn’t fast enough, it’s as simple as that. Fernando got the pole and fair play to them."
