Jack Roush comments on NASCAR Race Hub
Roush: “If you are going to be dumb, you’d better be tough to survive it. I’ve certainly had good fortune … I’ve had two plane wrecks in the last eight years. They were totally different in terms of the way they developed … I’m a pilot. I have enjoyed my flying and I enjoy everything about aviation, the aviation community and the people who go with it, but it’s unfortunate that I have had these two events that have required me to recover, and, happily, I have recovered both times."
Roush: “After the first wreck, I lost track of the entire day … this accident, I had total recall. I did not lose consciousness. I really saw the events I thought I was going to see before I died. As it turned out, the airplane stayed together, it didn’t catch on fire and I was fairly close to the ground when it went and stalled. We were able to walk out of the airplane."
Roush: “I think if I had been in an older airplane that was configured out of aluminum that I would have likely worn the thing (rather) than have it protect me … and the things that didn’t catch on fire. I was in a situation where I had great medical treatment up at the Mayo Clinic that restored me back to reasonably good health."
