2011 British F3 calendar
British F3 will again feature 30 races, three at each of the 10 meetings. After a break from recent years, the championship will kick off at the legendary Autodromo di Monza, home of the Italian Grand Prix. In Britain the championship will feature at Oulton Park, Donington Park GP, Brands Hatch GP, Rockingham, the new Snetterton ‘300’ track, with the season finale at Silverstone Arena. In mainland Europe, as well as Monza, F3 will visit Paul Ricard and Spa Francorchamps. Nürburgring is likely to be on the calendar but remains to be confirmed at this point.
Formula 3 began in Britain in 1951, and to celebrate F3’s 60th anniversary the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series plans further enhancements to reinforce its status as the best training formula for the Grand Prix stars of the future.
In addition to major marketing initiatives which will include a new championship logo, a fully revised PR schedule and greater promotion of events, there will be a new focus on British F3’s National Class, which is to be renamed the Rookie Championship and which will aim to nurture new talent as they take their first, low-budget steps into Formula 3.
Rookie Championship drivers entering for the full season will each receive a branded race suit as part of their package, and will continue to benefit from power unit data-sharing support provided by Neil Brown Engineering. The 2011 Rookie Champion will receive the prize of a waived entry fee into the 2012 British F3 International Championship.
The overall British F3 Champion, as well as the runner-up and third-placed finisher, will be rewarded with valuable tests at the wheel of a Renault World Series 3.5 racer. More projects for 2011 and beyond will be revealed in coming months.
