Hornaday wins truck pole in Talladega

Out of the title hunt, Ron Hornaday continues to knock off feats from his personal checklist.

The four-time Truck Series champion won for the first time last week at Martinsville and he added another first six days later, winning the pole for the first time at Talladega Superspeedway.

Hornaday, who is winless at the 2.66-mile superspeedway, will start Saturday's Mountain Dew 250 from the P1 position thanks to a lap of 181.230 mph. Jason White, who won his only Truck Series pole in the season-opener at Daytona, qualified second with a lap of 180.911 mph.

Austin Dillon, Ken Schrader and Aric Almirola rounded out the top five.

Points leader Todd Bodine put his No. 30 Toyota 10th on the grid. Kyle Busch will roll off 18th.

All 36 trucks that qualified made the race. Larry Foyt was entered but his No. 1 Chevrolet did not pass pre-qualifying inspection and he had to withdraw.
