Rossi leads still wet MotoGP warm-up
The track remained wet at Estoril on Sunday morning for the warm up session, but conditions did appear to be improving for the MotoGP class as Valentino Rossi set the quickest time with a best lap of 1’48.363.
Strong winds continued and large areas of standing water were still present as Rossi led Casey Stoner (Ducati Team) by 0.331s by the end of the session, with pole man Jorge Lorenzo third at just under nine-tenths of a second off Rossi.
Ben Spies (Monster Yamaha Tech 3), Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini) and Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda) completed the top six in the half-hour run, with Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda) preparing for his first race back after three out by going around 11th fastest in warm up. The Spaniard will start the race from the fourth row of the grid.
The MotoGP race is scheduled to get underway at 1pm local time.
