Sacked Hülkenberg: I heavily regret leaving Williams
Nico Hülkenberg has released a brief statement after manager Willi Weber announced on Sunday that his driver would not be remaining at Williams next year.
Much speculation has surrounded the drive of last year’s GP2 Champion, which looked to have been strengthened by his Brazilian Grand Prix pole position.
“I heavily regret that because I would have been happy to stay with Williams," the 23-year-old German stated on his personal website.
“I want to thank the team for a great time and I wish Williams all the best for the future."
Williams is yet to confirm its line-up for 2011 although 2010 GP2 title winner Pastor Maldonado of Venezuela remains a firm favorite.
