‘I would not say we’re fond of each other’

New World Champion Sebastian Vettel has explained how he and teammate Mark Webber engaged in a lengthy discussion following his title-clinching Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday, bringing an end to a season which included a coming together between to the two Red Bull drivers in Turkey.

Whilst fighting for the lead in Istanbul, the Australian and German collided to hand an almost certain one-two finish to rivals McLaren. However, the youngest ever Formula 1 title winner is pleased to explain that the relationship with his team-mate has now improved, despite not being ideal.

Immediately after the (Abu Dhabi) race we had a long conversation," Vettel explained in an interview with the official Formula 1 website. “He came over to congratulate me and we took the chance to speak.

“There have been some things that annoyed me over the course of the year and vice versa. We’ve had the chance to set the record straight.

“I would not say that we have become fond of each other after that conversation, because there have been reasons why we collided, but we respect each other and that is a good basis."
