Svendsen-Cook to stay with Carlin in 2011

Rupert Svendsen-Cook will stay with Carlin for a second assault on the Cooper Tires British F3 Series in 2011. The British driver is already a race winner in the series and claimed a total of four podiums in his rookie season. Svendsen-Cook joins the already announced drivers of Jack Harvey, Carlos Huertas and Kevin Magnussen at Carlin next season.

Svendsen-Cook made the step up to F3 with Carlin in 2010, straight from the Formula BMW Europe championship. The Ipswich born racer impressed many with his victory in the opening round of the year at Oulton Park in April.

Svendsen-Cook was regularly amongst the front runners throughout the season, recording a total of 20 top ten finishes to finish his rookie season a strong seventh place in the championship standings.

Together with his Carlin F3 team mates, Svendsen-Cook contributed to a dominant 2010 season for the Carlin team, which saw the Hampshire based squad claim a total of 48 podiums and 21 race victories.

Speaking about the season ahead, Svendsen-Cook said, “I’m very excited to be with Carlin for another season and to be racing in British F3 again. It’s a fantastic place to develop as a driver and with Carlin I have a team that I already know and trust. I want to take the opportunity to thank my sponsors for trusting and investing in me for another season. I can’t wait to start off next season when we left off in 2010 –challenging for podiums and race wins at every event."

Trevor Carlin added, “Rupert was a real asset to the team this year and I’m delighted that he will have the chance to develop further with us in 2011. The step up from Formula BMW to F3 is much greater than from a championship such as Formula Renault and 2010 was very much a steep learning curve for Rupert. He did a fantastic job in his first season of F3 and we see great potential in him for the future."
