Mazdaspeed, ModSpace team up for 2011 season

Mazdaspeed Motorsports on Friday said it is teaming up with ModSpace for the 2011 racing season.

Official details of the partnership have not been released. But Mazdaspeed and ModSpace will have a supporting role with the No. 16 Dyson Racing Lola-Mazda that runs in the American Le Mans Series. The Mazda-powered Lola was revealed at the Performance Racing Industry trade show in Orlando, Fla., last week wearing the ModSpace logo on the side.

The partnership will also support a Mazda RX-8 in Grand-Am’s GT championship and a Mazdaspeed 3 in the Continental Tire ST Championship.

“Mazda and ModSpace have a similar mind-set which will allow us to work effectively as a team," said John Doonan, Mazdaspeed team development manager. “While many partnerships take months of negotiations to determine if there is a fit, with ModSpace, we were able to develop a mutually beneficial plan in just a few days."
