Sight, sound enhancements for the Milwaukee Mile

The Milwaukee 225 is still a couple of months off, and ultimately the success of the promoters who are bringing the IndyCar Series back to the Milwaukee Mile cannot be judged until after the race actually happens.

Nonetheless, AB Promotions certainly is saying all the right things.

The Indianapolis-based group says the track, which was barely used last year, will have what it describes as "large digital video boards and supplemental sound" for the June 18-19 race weekend.

Quick, what have been two of the biggest complaints about the place since the grandstand was redone? You can't hear the announcers, and you can't read the scoreboard. (Granted, the list is long, but that is one of the things we do best: complain.)

The video boards, unveiled this week at the state of IndyCar meeting in Indianapolis, will travel with the series.

In an announcement issued Thursday, AB also said it would reduce the minimum age for garage access to 9 in accordance with new IndyCar guidelines.

These promises — particularly the video and sound improvements — are great steps toward providing a better experience for the people in the seats. Of course the one caveat about promises is that for them to be worth anything the party that makes them must follow through.

With every commitment, AB raises the expectations for what will qualify as a successful event. JSOnline
