Fauzy joins Super Nova in GP2

Lotus Renault F1 test and reserve driver Fairuz Fauzy today confirmed it signed an agreement with GP2 team Super Nova Racing to compete for the team in the 2011 GP2 Asia and GP2 Series championship.

The 28 year old Malaysian racer is no stranger to the team, having driven the Super Nova car in the 2006 GP2 Series and then the 2008 GP2 Asia series, where he won a race on his way to fourth position in the championship. Since then Fairuz has continued to be successful, winning races in A1GP and Formula Renault 3.5 Series where he showed his consistency in 2009 by finishing second in the championship.

Fairuz Fauzy said: “I am very happy to be back in GP2 and with Super Nova who I have fond memories of after the success we achieved in GP2 Asia. This year I hope to perform better than ever and I am excited to drive the new car with Pirelli tires, to see how it compares to the Formula One car with the same tires.

“GP2 is my priority this year and I aim to win as many races as possible but also consistently pick up points to keep me at the top end of the championship."
