Guy Smith re-signs with Dyson Racing
The 36-year-old from Beverley drives a Lola Coupe for a third year eager to claim his first ALMS title in this year's nine-race series which begins with the Sebring 12 Hours in mid-March.
"I'm delighted to be staying with Dyson Racing for a seventh season," confirmed the 2003 Le Mans 24 Hour race winner.
"The Dyson guys are great people, incredibly hard working and totally focused yet the team maintains a strong family feel and that is a credit to Rob and Chris [Dyson] who are responsible for giving us the tools we need to do the job."
Dyson Racing welcomes Green Earth Technologies and its G-OIL brand as the primary sponsor of the #16 Dyson Racing G-OIL Mazda Lola Coupe for the 2011 American Le Mans Series season. G-OIL is the world's most eco-friendly ultimate biodegradable motor oil.
Guy continued: "I am thrilled to see G-OIL become our primary sponsor. The company's products are a perfect fit with the 'green' message that we are trying to spread within the ALMS series.
"Mazda continues as part of our program while we've been working very hard with AER in further developing the engine.
Smith begins the countdown to the 2011 American Le Mans Series season at the annual two-day Winter Test at Sebring in Florida early next month (9-10 Feb).
"The Lola is a great little car that is fast and easy to set-up," remarked Guy. "Our engineer Peter Weston knows the car inside out and I am sure we can continue to work on its set-up and find even more performance from the car.
"Dunlop joined Dyson Racing as our tire partner last year and we definitely benefitted from that association."
Smith has finished fourth and sixth in the LM P2 championship standings for the past two years. Guy Smith PR
