Beginning its 32nd season working with the team in 2011, PPG returns as an associate sponsor on all of Penske Racing’s NASCAR entries this season. This includes the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Dodge driven by Kurt Busch and the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge driven by Brad Keselowski in the Sprint Cup Series. In addition, PPG will be an associate sponsor on the defending champion No. 22 Discount Tire/Ruby Tuesday Dodge piloted by Keselowski and the No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge with driver Sam Hornish Jr. in the Nationwide Series.
The world’s leading coatings and specialty products company will also enhance its relationship with Team Penske’s winning IZOD IndyCar Series program. In addition to serving as an associate sponsor on all three Team Penske IndyCars this season, PPG will be the primary sponsor on the No. 6 Dallara/Honda driven by Ryan Briscoe at the Milwaukee (June 19), Iowa (June 25) and Kentucky (October 2) IndyCar events this season.
“PPG has such a great history with Penske and we are excited about the opportunity to grow and develop this unique partnership even further," said Bill Shaw of PPG. “We look forward to being a part of Penske Racing’s winning teams in both NASCAR and IndyCar this season as we continue our very successful relationships with the other Penske business properties."
PPG and Penske established their partnership in 1984 through PPG’s participation in motorsports and sponsorship of the PPG Cup from 1979 to 1999 in the CART PPG World Series, where Penske Racing teams competed. The opportunities between the two companies started with PPG providing paint for Penske race cars. Over the years, the relationship has grown and PPG has become the largest supplier of refinish coatings for Penske Truck Leasing and Penske Automotive Group’s automotive collision repair centers, as well as Penske Racing.
“Our organization has enjoyed a terrific partnership with PPG over the years and we continue to grow as we work together," said Roger Penske. “Working not only with our race teams, but with our other Penske Corporation businesses, PPG has made this a very successful relationship. They are a key partner for our teams in NASCAR and we welcome their increased role with us this season in the IZOD IndyCar Series."
