Brian Vickers slams Matt Kenseth for 14-car wreck

It was easy to see who suffered the most damage in a 14-car pileup during the Subway Fresh Fit 500.
Brian Vickers, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton, Regan Smith, Travis Kvapil, Jamie McMurray and David Reutimann were involved in the accident on lap 67 of the 312-lap race at Phoenix International Raceway.

Vickers believed that Matt Kenseth wrecked him to start the melee.

“The 17 [of Kenseth] ran us into the wall," Vickers said. “[He] door-slammed us into the corner coming out of Turn 2, just 67 laps into a very, very long race. I felt like it was unnecessary and I’m sure it will come back to him."

Any reason that Kenseth would turn him?

“I have no idea," Vickers said. “You’ll have to ask him."

Kenseth was surprised that Vickers thought he caused the accident.

“I don’t think I touched anybody," Kenseth said. “I didn’t hit anybody. We went in the corner and I didn’t feel a thing. I thought I left him plenty of room. I thought he had at least a car width and a half to two car widths to the wall there.

“We were kind of close in the middle because he was holding me close on the restart but I thought he had plenty of room, so I don’t know what happened."

Kenseth said his car didn’t have any damage from the accident.

“I didn’t really see anything," Kenseth said. “The 83 [of Vickers] and I were coming off of Turn 2 side-by-side after the restart and I thought there was plenty of room out to the wall.

“I looked in the mirror and someone was spinning out. … Maybe I’ll watch it [on a replay] and see something else, but I really don’t know what he’s talking about." Scenedaily.com
