MotorLand contract renewed until 2016

MotoGP will be remaining at Spain’s MotorLand Arag¢n circuit until at least 2016, it has been confirmed in a fresh contract between the government of Arag¢n and the Spanish track, which made its debut last year as replacement venue for Hungary’s Balatonring.

With the new Hungarian race track not ready, Arag¢n was drafted into the calendar as Spain’s fourth race and proved to be a thrilling event which saw Casey Stoner enjoy his first win of the season for Ducati.

On Tuesday, a new deal was struck between Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta plus heads of the Arag¢n region and race track.

With the event now confirmed as a permanent fixture on the calendar for the next six years, it looks to follow up a successful 2010 which ended with the ‘Best Grand Prix’ award, with some 116,000 spectators having surveyed the action across the three-day race weekend.
