Did Castroneves avoid penalty for his driving because he is Brian Barnhart's favorite actor?

Will Power called on Izod IndyCar Series officials to be consistent with their officiating after Team Penske teammate Helio Castroneves wasn't penalized for running into him late in the April 17 race at Long Beach, Calif.

Former driver Al Unser Jr., a member of the officiating team, said Castroneves wasn't penalized because he and Power went to the back of the field as a result of their spins.

Power said that's not right, even though he said Castroneves simply made a mistake in locking up the brakes in a battle with Oriol Servia.

"Oddly enough, (Castroneves) ended up in the back in front of me," Power said Tuesday before leaving for Sao Paulo, Brazil, site of this weekend's race.

Power said IndyCar officials need to study how other motor sports entities officiate races.

"I think they need to take a look at Formula One, DTM, V8 Supercars — there's three series that have a very good system of penalties," he said. "You have faith in the system when it's consistent."

Power said he and Castroneves spoke about the incident in the team's transporter following the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, and haven't talked since. Indy Star
