Bayne doubtful for Darlington Nationwide race
Hospitalized after suffering fatigue, nausea and blurred vision, the 20-year-old Daytona 500 winner posted a note on Twitter about his pending release from the hospital after a nine-day stay.
“I know I'm right where God wants me to be! finally going back to NC today! Waiting patiently to get better! Thanks everyone!" Bayne said in the tweet.
Buescher made his Nationwide debut at Richmond last week in place of Bayne, who was hospitalized April 28th from symptoms thought to be related to an insect or spider bite that caused severe swelling and numbness in Bayne’s left elbow a few weeks earlier.
But Bayne has said his symptoms don’t appear to be related to the bite.
No timetable has been announced for Bayne’s return, and neither Bayne nor the team have indicated whether doctors have made progress diagnosing the cause of his symptoms or treating the illness.
05/04/11 Chris Buescher likely will replace Trevor Bayne in the Roush Fenway Racing Nationwide Series car for the second straight race as the Daytona 500 winner remains hospitalized for an undisclosed illness, sources told ESPN.com Wednesday. Despite numerous rumors about Bayne's condition — which at times has included a rash as well as swelling and numbness in his left arm — several sources said doctors have not made a final diagnosis and would not speculate on whether this could be career-threatening. A final decision on whether to put Buescher in the car is expected to be made Thursday. Bayne's next scheduled Cup race for the Wood Brothers is the May 21 All-Star race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. 05/04/11 Roush Fenway Racing driver Trevor Bayne remains hospitalized in the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and likely will remain out of the driver's seat for at least another week. Hospitalized last week for fatigue, nausea and blurred vision, Bayne missed the Nationwide Series race at Richmond last week. He likely will miss this weekend's race at Darlington although a final decision might not be made until Thursday, a Roush Fenway Racing spokesman said Wednesday.
