Blundell feels bad for Conway

Although Ryan Hunter-Reay has managed to get back into this weekend’s Indianapolis 500 by inheriting the car of Bruno Junqueira, fellow non-qualifier Mike Conway will be forced to remain on the sidelines. The result comes as a huge blow to the Sevenoaks driver, who won at Long Beach, and manager Mark Blundell.

“It was a very disappointing situation, when you’ve got two drivers – Mike Conway, who is already a race winner and is up there in the top four of the championship, and Ryan Hunter-Reay, a proven young gun as well – to be out of the race due to a lack of car speed," Blundell told GPUpdate.net. “It’s a heavy hit and not something that we’re happy about.

“Regretfully, it still looks like we’re not going to be able to get into the race, although Ryan Hunter-Reay seems to have positioned something where he takes over another car. That’s the thing with the Indy rules – if a car is on the grid you can change a driver, but it’s something which is out of our control."
