Tissot to sponsor Danica at Chicagoland

Danica Patrick

Tissot, a manufacturer of Swiss watches since 1853, announced that it will be the primary sponsor on Danica Patrick’s No. 7 Chevrolet in Saturday night's (June 4) NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill.

Driving the No. 7 Tissot Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, Patrick will make her return to NASCAR competition after competing in the first four Nationwide Series races of the 2011 season. She is in her second year as a part-time NASCAR driver and is scheduled to enter 12 Nationwide races this season.

Her fourth-place result at the Las Vegas Nationwide race in early March was the best all-time finish for a female driver in a NASCAR top-tier series.

Patrick, who races full time on the IZOD IndyCar circuit for Andretti Autosport, is coming off a 10th–place finish in Sunday's Indianapolis 500. She is the only female driver to score a victory in the IndyCar Series, winning the 2008 Japan 300.

“I’m looking forward to coming back to NASCAR with Tissot on board our No. 7 car," said Patrick, a native of Roscoe, Ill. “Tissot has been a great supporter of our program at JR Motorsports, and I’m happy they’re back for a second year. To be able to race at Chicago for a second time in a stock car is exciting, too. I think I’ve made some gains since we were last there. It won’t be easy, but hopefully we can continue to build on our progress from earlier this year."
