Bahrain GP officially cancelled

F1's Bahrain Grand Prix "has been canceled for 2011," as local organizers today announced that "they would not pursue plans to stage the rescheduled event on Oct. 30." Bahrain Int'l Circuit Chair Zayed Alzayani in a statement said, "It has been made clear that this fixture cannot progress and we fully respect that decision." The event was originally scheduled for March but was canceled "due to political unrest." The FIA last week announced the new fall date, but "teams objected because of logistical and insurance reasons"
