Oliver Webb to run Indy Lights
Oliver Webb joins Jensen MotorSport with an impressive resume including 3 wins and 14 podiums as a rookie driver in the highly competitive British F3 Championship en route to a 3rd place finish in the 2010 overall season standings. In 2011, Oliver has been racing in the Formula One development series World Series by Renault with races across Europe at famous circuits including Monza Italy and Monaco.
In 2011, Oliver has also been awarded the distinction as the first driver to win membership of both the BRDC Superstars and MSA Elite . Only the 10 top up and coming young British drivers win places on these schemes, and Oliver is the first driver to win membership of both.
“Jensen MotorSport and team sponsor ExpoSystems are excited to announce Oliver Webb as our newest driver" states owner Eric Jensen. “With his impressive results in European racing, it will be interesting to see Oliver challenge the most talented drivers in North America."
Always among the most popular races on the Izod IndyCar Series schedule, the 2011 edition of the Edmonton Indy offers the drivers a new challenge. While still utilizing the wide runways of the Edmonton city airport, the circuit configuration is completely different than in past years. Driver Oliver Webb states, “Many British drivers including 2011 Indy 500 champion Dan Wheldon and 3-time IndyCar series champion Dario Franchitti have enjoyed terrific success by transitioning their careers to North American racing. While still planning to continue my racing career in Europe this summer, I am excited to have been given this excellent opportunity to join the Firestone Indy Lights grid with view to possibly competing full-time in the USA in 2012 and beyond."
