Two DSR teams win crew awards at Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals
The award, which carries a cash prize of $3,000 for the winning team in addition to a plaque and pre-race recognition at the next event, is presented to the crew selected as the hardest working on during the event.
Ron Capps drove the NAPA car to a runner-up finish from the number-two qualifying position. The Full Throttle judges recognized that, “The pairing of Ron Capps and new crew chief Tim Richards (in his fifth race as tuner of the Don Schumacher Racing NAPA car) is starting to pay dividends, as Capps made it to the finals for the first time this season."
Spencer Massey and the FRAM/Prestone dragster visited the finals for the third time in 2011, finishing as runner up to series-leader Del Worsham. Full Throttle recognition for this award was for, “making it to the finals after qualifying seventh and continuing a streak of not smoking the tires in 36-consecutive passes (dating back to the first qualifying session at the Atlanta race)."
