IndyCar heads north of the border to Toronto

Dario Franchitti took over the points lead after the June 25 race at Iowa. Franchitti holds a 20-point advantage over Will Power, who is hoping to rebound after his hard crash in the Iowa event.

Power sustained a slight concussion when he slammed into the outside wall in the early going at Iowa. Four days after his accident, IndyCar medical personnel cleared him to drive. Per IndyCar rules, Power had to take the ImPACT (Immediate Post-concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) test and was re-evaluated.

"It was a hard hit at Iowa, but I didn't actually get knocked out or anything," Power said. "I just had a headache for the first night and some neck soreness. I needed to get checked out by the IndyCar officials, and it was more precautionary than anything, but that's good, because you can never be too careful."

Power participated in a test session at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, OH last week, joining his Team Penske teammates Helio Castroneves and Ryan Briscoe.

"I'm glad we got the chance to test at Mid-Ohio to get ready for the road courses coming up," Power said. "Now I'm looking forward to going back to Toronto [this] week and trying to defend our win there."

Power claimed his fourth win of the 2010 season at Toronto. He passed Justin Wilson for the lead just after a restart with 14 laps remaining. Power then held off Franchitti at the finish by 1.28 seconds.

Franchitti won the inaugural race at Toronto in 2009.

From 1986 to 2007, the event on the streets of Toronto was sanctioned by Champ Car World Series (CART). Michael Andretti has the most wins here with seven.

Andretti's son, Marco, snapped a five-year winless streak in IndyCar at Iowa.

Will Marco Andretti's winning momentum continue on Sunday?

"We love going up there; Canadian race fans are great," he said. Obviously, dad is like a god up there with seven wins. But I'm looking to make my mark up there for sure."
