Bruton Smith calls MIS President Roger Curtis a jackass |
In New Hampshire Friday Bruton Smith responded to the Roger Curtis letter in a way only he can.
"We had some response from someone, I don't know who the heck he is, I don't care to know," Smith said. "It would be like if one of my people responded to Daytona [International Speedway] in a nasty way when the track broke up and they had to stop the race for two hours [during the 2010 Daytona 500]. I don't know what I would have done if one of my people had all of the sudden responded and bad mouthed Daytona because they had a problem. That is not what we're about."
"It reminded me of something. I was born and raised on a farm and we had a jackass that got away from us. He was young, frisky, my dad, I remember saying 'That's the sorriest jackass I ever had.' But he got away and we never did recover him. But I understand that he has popped up now up in Michigan somewhere (referring to Roger Curtis as the jackass at Michigan Speedway)."
07/11/11 Roger Curtis (pictured right), the president of Michigan International Speedway, is a 20-year veteran of motorsports administration. Before his time at MIS, Curtis was at Auto Club Speedway in California, Richmond International Raceway and Watkins Glen International in New York. Today he wrote this public letter criticizing Kentucky Speedway and the traffic problems it encountered for their inaugural event. It an unprofessional and damaging letter, when in fact it is like calling the kettle black after so many years of traffic nightmares at MIS. See full letter
