Drissi Joins TrueSpeed Driving No. 47
"This will definitely be a busy weekend" said Drissi. "Even though the World Challenge sessions are short, that can work both ways. While it isn't as physically demanding, it's less time to acclimate yourself to the car. And, I have the added pressure of fitting in with the TrueSpeed guys."
The 2.258-mile circuit at Mid-Ohio is always a popular stop on the Pirelli World Challenge tour. It's the perfect combination of long straights, high-speed curves and unique elevation changes. It is truly a sports car mecca. While he has enjoyed previous success at the track, 2nd in Trans-Am and 3rd in the American Le Mans LMP1 class, Tomy will be driving a new Porsche 997 Porsche GT3 Cup car for the first time at Mid-Ohio.
Tomy's livery on the new Porsche will feature the upcoming movie starring Justin Timberlake, In Time which will be in theaters October 28th.
"I'm really hoping to continue to build on my experience with the Porsche," Tomy noted. "I've got some good teammates at TrueSpeed and the team really has the ear of Porsche's factory support. I'll also have the benefit of sharing information with Patrick [Long]. I don't think there's another Porsche driver out there with the knowledge and the willingness to share."
Trans-Am Champion Will Pull A Triple-Header Weekend
Returning to the No. 89 Intersport In Time / Muscle Milk LMPC car is just one race in Tomy Drissi's weekend triple header at Mid-Ohio. Tomy will join Kyle Marcelli in the No. 89 LMPC for the American Le Mans Series race then jump over and do two rounds of the Pirelli World Challenge series in the No. 47 TrueSpeed In Time / Muscle Milk 997 Porsche GT3 Cup car. "I've been looking forward to this weekend all year," said Drissi. "I'll be busy for sure. But I know I can count on Intersport to turn out a great car for the weekend. Kyle has been fast everywhere we've been and I know we're both really excited about doing well on Intersport's home track."
The 2.258-mile circuit at Mid-Ohio is always a popular stop with the ALMS drivers. Coming right at the mid-point of the 2011 American Le Mans Series season, it's the race where many teams hope to hit their stride and hope to secure their position in the championship or at least begin to mount their challenge. Fans are guaranteed to see some of the best racing of 2011 and Tomy, Kyle and the Intersport crew fully intend to deliver.
Tomy's livery for this event will feature the new movie starring Justin Timberlake, In Time which will be in theaters October 28th. Tomy will be signing posters at the driver's autograph session featuring the No. 89 car in its In Time livery.
