CART 1993 – Cleveland – Mansell vs. Fittipaldi

We ask that you watch this video from 1993 – a CART race at Cleveland with Nigel Mansell and Emerson Fittipaldi passing and re-passing each other lap after lap. One of the best races of all-time, but this was typical CART and why it was hugely popular. This was CART IndyCar racing at its best. Two years later Tony George announced the creation of the IRL, which led to the ultimate destruction of CART (because they lost their crown jewel – the Indy 500) and of IndyCar racing the way it used to be. Contrast and compare that to the racing we see today and you will understand why so many people despise Tony George for destroying the sport they loved.
