Busch leads first Cup practice at Watkins Glen

Kyle Busch led today’s opening Sprint Cup practice at Watkins Glen International with a fast lap of 125.566 mph in the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 18 Toyota.

Defending race winner Juan Pablo Montoya was second at 125.557 mph in his EGR Chevy. AJ Allmendinger was third for the Richard Petty team.

Stewart-Haas Racing driver Ryan Newman and Penske Racing’s Brad Keselowski rounded out the top five, respectively.

The final 80-minute Cup practice is slated for 4:10 p.m. ET. Qualifying is scheduled for Saturday at 11:40 a.m.
