Pippa Mann tweeted that she had "a decent concussion," and a swollen ankle and knee. The impact was more than 100 Gs, she said. "I guess I just had my first big one," she said of the accident.
Ed Carpenter ran into trouble in the same location of the 1.025-mile track. He spun in practice, with rookie Charlie Kimball right behind him. Kimball might have been able to avoid the Sarah Fisher Racing car, but Danica Patrick hit him from behind.
Neither Patrick nor Kimball had time to react to the incident. All three cars were repaired for qualifying. Indy Star
08/13/11 IndyCar rookie Pippa Mann will miss Sunday's race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway after crashing during a practice run Saturday.
She is scheduled to undergo an MRI on her back on Monday in Indianapolis and will not be cleared to race before the results of the test are known, a spokesman for the series said.
Mann, whose only other IndyCar race this year was the Indianapolis 500, was set for her first race as part of the Rahal Letterman team before her car hit a wall during a morning practice run. She was helped out of the car and supported under her arms as she walked slowly to a stretcher.
She was awake and alert when she was taken to Concord Medical Center for evaluation.
Her car also spun on two practice runs Thursday and made contact with the tire wall in Turn 2 on the second run.

The entry was withdrawn Saturday afternoon after a crash during Saturday’s practice session resulted in Mann being removed from competition by Indy Car Series Medical Staff. Mann suffered a heavy impact in the crash and the young British driver will not be cleared to drive by the Indy Car medical staff until she undergoes a final test in Indianapolis on Monday. Precautionary x-rays of her neck and a CT scan were both negative and she is being released from Concord Hospital in Concord, New Hampshire.
“Pippa worked very hard this weekend and we are hoping for a speedy recovery and a return to the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Indy Car," said RLL co-owner Bobby Rahal.
