Eddie Gossage hammers IndyCar Management
"But Indy Car, with its decision today, has once again yielded it's authority to team owners. How did that work out last time? Crash and burn," said Gossage.
Say what? IndyCar racing was never more successful when it was run by CART (team owners). It was not until Anton George created the IRL, split the sport and took away CART's biggest race, the Indy 500, that CART went downhill. This is well documented. So for Gossage to blame the team owners for CART's demise just shows how out of touch he is with reality.
Should team owners be running IndyCar? No, but should they have a say on rolling out new things they cannot afford? Absolutely.
Gossage needs to stick to promoting races, which he does best.
