Drivers saying no thanks to $5M IndyCar Vegas prize
IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard said that's the date required to secure insurance for the big prize.
Bernard offered $5 million to a non-IndyCar driver who could win the race but so far no one has come forward. X Games star Travis Pastrana had hoped to try but he broke his ankle last month.
NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne and former CART champion and F1 driver Alex Zanardi are interested, but it does not appear they will be able to put a deal together in time.
Kahne wants to drive for Team Penske and Zanardi for Ganassi Racing, but those two teams are currently focused on winning the IndyCar title.
Bernard said he's done everything he can to make it work.
"I can lead a horse to water, but I can't make them drink," he said. AutoWeek
