Mercedes backs inaugural Indian GP

The Times of India is reporting that Mercedes-Benz India will be the official automotive sponsor of October's inaugural Indian Grand Prix. According to the report, the company will provide official cars at the event in New Delhi.

The newspaper quoted Manas Dewan, Mercedes-Benz India general manager, as saying: "Mercedes' association with Formula One goes back a long way. There is a huge market for this sport and India is no different. There is already a lot of excitement for the Indian Grand Prix and it will only increase by the day."

Tickets have just gone on sale for the October 30th race, which will be the first Formula One race in the country.
