Silverstone installs charging stations

As part of its latest development program, Silverstone owners the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) have installed two of the most advanced electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to offer visitors a chance to charge their cars’ batteries at no cost.

“This is one of the first steps in our plan to become a focal point for showcasing EVs and educating the public about the capabilities of electric cars," says Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Limited.

“The introduction of these charging points means that EV drivers within a 60-mile radius of Silverstone can attend some of the premiere events on the racing calendar and, should they prove popular, we intend to install many more."

With each charging point able to support two cars at once, EV drivers will be able to reach Silverstone from locations such as Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Oxford and North London without the need to recharge en route.

The charging stations can be found both in the public car park next to the circuit’s main entrance and outside the new Innovation Centre.
