ALMS teams race toward finish line

The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patr¢n closes its season with two of its biggest races of the year –this weekend’s ModSpace American Le Mans Monterey presented by Patr¢n at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and 14th annual Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda in two weeks. This weekend, competitors in Monterey won’t just face the daunting prospect of six hours racing around one of the world’s renowned circuits. Championships also are on the line as you can see below…

Chris Dyson, Dyson Racing
(LMP1, co-leader)

“The most important thing is completing the next two races and finishing this. We want to run hard but not put the car in any undo risk. Once we hit that milestone of 70 percent, we’ll take the gloves off. We’ve been in this situation before. Our guys know how to rise to the occasion. We’ll execute in the car and in the pits to deliver a championship to our team and our partners."

Eric Lux, Genoa Racing
(LMPC, second place)

“Earlier in the season, we drove like we had nothing to lose. At Baltimore we raced a lot more cautiously and minimized any kind of risk. It’ll be the same the next two rounds. We need to finish ahead of both the CORE cars but it will take no-risk passes and good pit work."

Gunnar Jeannette, CORE autosport
(LMPC, co-leader)

“The perfect headline for this race for us is ‘crunch time.’ Here we are going into the second to last race of the year and there’s only a few points separation in the driver and team championships. Combine that with more points that are available in longer races and it’s going to be a close run to the championship."

Joey Hand, BMW Team RLL
(GT, co-leader)

“You always want to be in the battle, no matter where it is. You want to be in a battle on the race track because that means you’re quick and you have a chance to win. It’s really the hunter and the hunted. It’ll be a show for everyone watching."

Tim Pappas, Black Swan Racing
(GTC, co-leader)

“I think since Long Beach, the Black Swan team has just really found its stride. We’ve made very little changes since then. The car has just been really, really good. What we’ve been able to accomplish so far has been great to see."
