MotoGP returning to Argentina in 2013
MotoGP will make a return to Argentina in 2013, it has been confirmed following meetings between race organizers and sporting commercial rights holder Dorna. The race will be staged at the Aut¢dromo Termas de RÃo Hondo and will be the largest event the circuit has ever hosted.
A three-year agreement was signed in Paris on Tuesday, with Dorna having consulted with the Argentinean government as well as the Governor of the Santiago del Estero province. Also present were Argentinean President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Enrique Meyer, the country’s Minister for Tourism.
For now, it is being stressed that the agreement is subject to renovation work which must be carried out at the venue in order for the circuit to comply with MotoGP’s current safety standards. MotoGP last hosted an Argentine Grand Prix in 1999, with Kenny Roberts Jr. winning for Suzuki in Buenos Aires.
