NBA and NFL stars join IndyCar for charity event in Vegas

Celebrities from the worlds of entertainment and sports will join the stars of the IZOD INDYCAR Series in raising money for two charities at The INDYCAR Blackjack Tournament presented by AirMed at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino on Friday, Oct. 14.

NFL Hall of Famers Warren Moon, Michael Irvin and Marshall Faulk will join actors Ricardo Antonio Chavira (Desperate Housewives) and Benito Martinez (The Shield) in the two-hour tournament held on the casino floor.

Current and former NBA and NFL stars Danny Granger (Indiana Pacers), Corey Magette (Charlotte Bobcats), Al Harrington (Denver Nuggets/former Indiana Pacer), Tracy McGrady (Detroit Pistons), Marcus Banks (New Orleans Hornets), Jermaine O'Neal (Boston Celtics/former Indiana Pacer), Andray Blatche (Washington Wizards), Robert Horry (L.A. Lakers), Derrick McKey (retired Indiana Pacer), Marcellus Wiley (retired NFL player/ESPN analyst) and Warrick Dunn (retired Tampa Bay Buccaneers/Atlanta Falcons) are also scheduled to play alongside the 34 IZOD IndyCar Series drivers entered in the Las Vegas race.

INDYCAR's best blackjack player will win a Ritmo Mundo timepiece valued at approximately $5,000 although the big winners of the night will be CARA Charities and Opportunity Village.

Cocktail hour kicks off the event at 6 p.m. followed by the tournament from 7 – 9 p.m.

All final table participants will receive a Ritmo Mundo timepiece valued at approximately $2,500, while each competing player will be entered in a drawing for a timepiece worth approximately $10,000.

The tournament entry fee is $250 per person with 100 percent of the proceeds going to CARA Charities, supporting philanthropic projects on behalf of the open-wheel motorsports community, and Opportunity Village, a not-for-profit organization serving the Las Vegas community and individuals with intellectual disabilities with the goal of enhancing their lives and the lives of their families.
