Delayed: Cup Series practice

UPDATE #2 Rain forced NASCAR to postpone the two Sprint Cup practices Friday at Homestead-Miami Speedway. NASCAR had scheduled 2 hours, 45 minutes of Cup practice Friday with qualifying for the season-ending Ford 400 scheduled for Saturday.

NASCAR will try to get in nearly all of its scheduled practice on Saturday – from 9:30-11 a.m. ET and 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The remainder of the Saturday schedule – Nationwide Series qualifying at 1:05 p.m., Cup qualifying at 2:40 p.m. and the Nationwide race at 4:30 p.m. – remains the same.

"It’s not a big drama," said Tony Stewart, who is three points behind Carl Edwards for the lead in the Sprint Cup standings. "When we get on the track is when we get on the track. I’m confident we have a good [car]."

The National Weather Service forecast for Saturday is a 20 percent chance of rain with a high of 80 degrees.

11/18/11 As NASCAR tries to squeeze in one session of practice for the Cup Series, Truck Series qualifying was canceled and the lineup will be set by practice speeds for the final race of '11.

11/18/11 Rain hasn't cooperated with NASCAR's practice schedule at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Friday, and the latest drivers to sit and wait on the weather will be from the Cup Series.
