Fords wither in Homestead as Chevy beats them again
Not only did Tony Stewart's Chevy outrun the Ford of Carl Edwards, giving Chevy the NASCAR Sprint Cup Drivers and Manufacturers championships again, to rub salt in the wounds, Roush Yates Engines saw three of its motors detonate during the Ford 400. Ford's wilt in Ford sponsored race with everyone watching, how embarrassing is that?
Marcos Ambrose lasted only 72 laps while David Ragan completed only 81 and Greg Biffle retired after 190.
Ragan had an experimental engine in his car, so his early exit wasn’t a surprise.
“We just pushed the envelope too much and were being a little aggressive on our car with not a whole lot to lose," Ragan said. “We were trying to find a little horsepower and it didn’t work out."
Biffle thought his problem might have been a part issue.
“We’ve had three of them break that I know of and that’s really unusual for our engines," Biffle said.
