WRC’s Vladimir Antonov arrested in London
World Rally Championship commercial chief Vladimir Antonov was arrested in London last night.
City of London Police have confirmed the arrest of two men, following the issue of a Europe-wide arrest warrant. Antonov and his business partner Raimondas Baranauskas are expected to appear in Westminster Magistrates' Court later today.
The pair will be questioned as part of an investigation into the asset-stripping of Bankas Snoras, a Lithuanian bank of which Antonov was a 68 per cent shareholder.
Convers Sports Initiatives, the firm which owns the commercial rights to the WRC and is backed by Antonov, hasn't commented on the situation since last week, when it insisted its business was unaffected by the situation at Bankas Snoras. Autosport
