Franchitti: I could never celebrate title

Dario Franchitti

Dario Franchitti has revealed he will NEVER celebrate his fourth IndyCar title after the tragic death of pal Dan Wheldon.

Scot Franchitti was handed the championship following the horrific 15-car smash in Las Vegas which claimed Wheldon's life and forced the final race to be cancelled.

But Bathgate bullet Franchitti admitted neither he nor the Ganassi Racing team celebrated the win — and never will.

He said: "It was a tough time, winning the championship in such difficult circumstances with losing Dan in the last race.

"Dan was a good friend of a lot of us, so that was really tough.

"Although the team were very proud of the championship, it isn't something we'll celebrate. We don't feel that way about it." The Scottish Sun
