Improper fencing likely did kill Dan Wheldon

Properly installed catch fencing at an IMS track with the fencing and cables installed trackside.

This video is the best evidence we have yet that the improper installation of the catch fencing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS) is likely what killed Dan Wheldon. You can clearly see the pole bend as his head impacts the pole. Given that the car was flying along parallel to the fence, had the fencing been on the inside (trackside) of the poles instead of outside it is very unlikely Wheldon's head would have hit the pole the way it did. The car would have skimmed along the fencing before falling to the track. IndyCar would be well advised to not race on any track that has the fencing improperly installed like LVMS. In fact if we were an insurance company, we would never insure a race with the catch fencing installed backwards like this.
