Booming City of Dubai

Keeping up with the pace at which developments are going on in motorsport, one of the most dynamic sports in the world, organizers of the Dunlop 24H DUBAI, the first international 24h race of the calendar year for GTs, touring cars and 24h specials, have already set the date for the eighth running of the event, which will be held at Dubai Autodrome from January 10th till 13th, 2013. “Of course, our main focus currently is on next year’s race, from January 12th till 14th, 2012", says Gerrie Willems on behalf of Dutch agency, CREVENTIC, organizers of the Dunlop 24H DUBAI together with DNRT. “However, we have already received some inquiries about future events, so we are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with the management of Dubai Autodrome concerning the eighth running of our race in 2013."

What started as a pioneering event in January 2006, organized by CREVENTIC and DNRT in co-operation with Dubai Autodrome, has become firmly established as one of the world’s important endurance races, mentioned together with the sport’s true endurance classics like the Le Mans, Nürburgring, Daytona and Spa 24- hour races more and more often. For 2012, CREVENTIC has made a big step in terms of media coverage for the Dunlop 24H DUBAI with live television coverage on Motors TV and additional reports on various other channels, live radio coverage (web-based and on-site) from the well-known endurance racing experts of Radio Le Mans and live internet coverage by means of live streaming, live timing, news updates, Twitter feeds and the like.

“With an entry of around 80 cars and teams and drivers coming from 30 countries, the Dunlop 24H DUBAI have become a major international race with all the renowned sports car brands like Nissan, Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus and McLaren all represented on the grid", says Gerrie Willems. “But the Dunlop 24H DUBAI is not just about big and powerful sports cars. Touring cars and silhouettes like Renault Clio and Mégane Trophy, various BMWs, SEAT, MINI, Honda, Ginetta, Saker and Holden traditionally fill a large part of the starting grid a well, and that is one of the factors that adds to the popularity of our race, together with the good, club-racing-like atmosphere in which we all can share our passion for motorsport."

To help touring car teams participate in the 2013 Dunlop 24H DUBAI, the organizers have reduced the entry fee for touring cars with engine capacities of up to 2600 cc (with or without turbocharger) to 5,000 Euros including standard transport. For all other cars, the entry fee remains very competitive, too, at 7,950 Euros including transport. “First of all, we are looking forward to the 2012 edition of our race, but we continue to improve the event and we keep working for the future of the Dunlop 24H DUBAI", says Gerrie Willems.
